Thursday, July 1 – Kerry Cannan
Powerhouse vocals, thoughtful lyrics, and an optimistic melancholy is at the core of Kerry Cannan’s performance. A percussive, pop, rock and blues artist, Kerry is as pure and emotional as it gets. This talented singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist captivates her audience singing with the mysticism and earthy tones of Stevie Nicks coupled with the “don’t push me around” attitude of Pink. Kerry then turns it around, sits back, and belts out a ballad with a sound reminiscent of LeAnn Rimes, or Natalie Merchant.
Her band carries thick layers of instrumentation with a tight ensemble of talented veterans. Kerry’s hook-laden original music appeals to pop, rock, and blues fans across the board, and her performance runs song after song leaving its listeners in anticipation of the next. Kerry’s artfully crafted tunes seem to tell the world “Yes, I’ve been wronged, but I’m doing something about it”. Her songs flow from the dark and twisty sounds of “The Wolf Outside”, to the sassy, lighter side of “Cursed”, featuring a New Orleans horn section and saloon piano telling the story of sweet-talking, bad-boy temptation.
