Greetings and Happy Fall!  We wish you the best and hope to see you on the street in Canandaigua.  There is a lot going on this month, including a trunk show, art classes, a culinary event, plus a spa sweepstakes!  Don’t forget to visit local merchants, come to their grand opening or congratulate them (more info below).  For Wine Walk we have six wineries, two food tastings, plus a treat from Dolce Cupcakes.  Don’t forget about Fall Into Canandaigua Festival coming up October 2nd.

Before we dive into the good event stuff, there’s something we’d like to share:

What is this 3/50 Project?

You may have seen the flyers at stores or heard someone mention this.  This is an incredible concept started by Cinda Baxter, the basics being that if consumers pick three merchants, spend $50 total within the three, they’re helping their local economy tremendously.  It’s such a great project, that the Canandaigua Merchant Association is a proud supporter, as well as many of the merchants themselves.

Trunk Show at Expressions In Needleart: Sept 3rd – Sept 21

Wood, Wine and Song September 10, 2010

Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Wood Library Trustees announce Wood Wine and Song an annual event which supports the Canandaigua library. Guests will be hosted by the library’s trustees and enjoy an evening under the stars. The evening will feature delicious hors d’oeuvres by Fiddlehead Concepts, libations complements of Constellation Wine and the Seneca Lake Wine Trail and music by Generations. Guests can bid on a wide array of wonderful items such as an Adirondack fishing trip for 2, a private tasting at F. Olivers or a one week vacation package almost anywhere in the world during the Silent Auction. Additional items will be raffled.

Fall Sky Rides at Bristol Mountain

Every weekend from 12pm-4pm from September 25th – October 31st.  Fall Festival will be on Sunday, October 10th from 12pm-5pm.  We will also run the Sky Rides on Columbus Day, October 11th.

Couples wanting to get engaged on the Sky Ride (this happens quite a bit), should call Frank Riccio at 374-1180 two days prior and he will make arrangements to meet them at the top of the mountain with a champagne toast (must be 21 years or older).  If the happy couple books their wedding reception at Bristol Mt we will give them a 10% discount.  Surprise proposals welcome…we can keep and secret and would love to help the person proposing pull this off.

Coach Street Clay Grand Opening Event

Coach Street Clay studio & gallery in Canandaigua celebrates the building’s completion after two years of renovations.  New business owner, Kathryn Money, invites the public to the grand opening event at 6 p.m. on October 1st,  2010.  The festivities include the ribbon cutting, live music, wheelthrowing demonstrations, pottery give-away contest, slide show presentation of the two year renovation, wine & hors d’oeuvres.  The gallery will feature local artists.  Class sign up for wheelthrowing and handbuilding will begin so sign up early as class size is limited.  Festivities will continue on Saturday October 2nd, 2010.

Save the Date: Comic Con is in October!

The 2nd Annual Canandaigua Comic Con is coming up on October 17th. It’s at the Inn on the Lake from 11 am until 5 pm.

Enjoy sampling the finest Finger Lakes wine in while walking historic Canandaigua!  Merchants, including apparel, gift stores, art galleries and restaurants are proud to introduce you to Canandaigua Wine Walk.
Grab a commemorative wine glass for $5 at any participating merchant, sample wines from Finger Lakes Wineries, and explore historic Canandaigua. All participating merchants are scheduled tentatively, this list may change.
No reservations required, just show up and look for the purple balloons at each participating merchant.

Starting Friday, August 13 with an artists’ reception from 6-8 pm at the Pat Rini Rohrer Gallery, 71 South Main Street, Canandaigua. The exhibit will feature 25 regional artists displaying works in glass, ceramics, painting, printmaking, and drawing. The exhibit will be open during regular business hours until September 13. Canandaigua Lake Music Festival Begins

The mysterious wonder of the moon’s silver glow has been one of humankind’s most enduring symbols since the dawn of time. The 2010 season – entitled Inspired by Moonlight – explores how composers through the ages have rendered this image in sound. From Beethoven’s beloved Moonlight Sonata to Arnold Schoenberg’s lush masterwork Transfigured Night, we invite you on an enchanting journey with performances by an exciting roster of musical stars. Arts at the Gardens, Fine Arts Show and Sale – August 21-22

This two day juried art show and sale is held on the grounds of Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion State Historic Park in Canandaigua, NY.  Special reduced admission is $6 and includes access to the mansion and gardens.  With the $1 off coupon, admission is just $5.

Arts at the Gardens features paintings, prints, sculpture, ceramics, jewelry, glass, woodwork, photography, and other fine art created by 100 talented artists chosen from a large pool of applicants from across the country. For more information click here.

Jazz at Finger Lakes Gallery & Frame – Saturday, August 7th

Andy Stobie and the Greater Finger Lakes Jazz Orchestra is playing at Finger Lakes Gallery & Frame August 7th, 2010 at 7-9pm.  It’s $10 per person, $15 per couple.

Heart in Hand Quilt Guild – Drawing at Liberty Cottage

Enter to win this All Around Town quilt at Liberty Cottage, 116 S. Main St.  It’s going on now and the drawing will be Monday, October 18th.  A portion of the profits will be donated to local charities.
