Fall Into Canandaigua 2009

Saturday, October 3rd, 2009 from 10am to 4pm.

Fall Into Canandaigua will once again feature a
26 foot tall scarecrow at the Commons Park. The 2009 Giant Scarecrow will take
form as a traditional witch taking residence at the park just in time for the
festival. Local residents and businesses are invited to enter the 2009 Great
Canandaigua Scarecrow contest that draws more than 40 scarecrows to Main Street
for the month of October. Judging for the 2009 Great Canandaigua Scarecrow
Contest will take place during Fall Into Canandaigua. Event attendees can vote
for their favorite scarecrows by picking up a ballot at the event information
booth. Prizes are awarded for 4 categories: Most Traditional, Most Humorous,
People’s Choice and Best of Show.
The event line-up includes live music at The Commons Park with a Cigar Box
Guitar Showcase at 12pm and The Greater Finger Lakes Jazz Orchestra at 2pm.Kids
Korridor will be located in the parking lot next to the Chamber of Commerce and
will include free caricature drawings, No Right Turn Maze, Gadgets the Clown,
children’s games & crafts. Free Wagon Rides will be available from 12pm-4pm and
several craft, merchant and vendor booths will line the sidewalks.
Bakers are encouraged to enter the Pie Baking Contest, drop off is at 12noon at
The Commons Park and judging will take place at 1pm, the entry fee is $5. The
Canandaigua Farmers Market is in full swing on Saturday morning.
New this year is the Rheinblick Oktoberfest taking place at Rheinblick German
Restaurant 224 S. Main Street from 12-9pm. Visitors will enjoy Oktoberfest Beer,
Live German Music, Bratwurst, Pig Roast and Chicken Barbeque. Admission is free
and food and drink can be purchased ala cart.
