Adding Music to Art (Music Schedule)

For over 20 years, visitors have been attracted to Historic Downtown for the annual art festival that takes place on the wide sidewalks of Main Street. 2007 marks a new and improved Main Street festival including a solid line-up of musical acts that will keep visitors dancing in the streets. This years festival has been renamed the Canandaigua Art & Music Festival in Historic Downtown. The musical acts will undoubtedly make this festival live up to its name.

Friday’s sounds begin with Country and lead into an afternoon of Rock finishing with the Rhythm & Blues of the Coupe De Villes. Saturday starts with contemporary jazz followed by a day of rock n roll ending with a local favorite Blue Jimmy Saturday evening. The festival closes out on Sunday with a strong line-up of Contemporary music featuring Donna Colton, String Theory, The Buddahood and Soul Mine. Festival Poster

2007 Poster marks 15th anniversary for Canandaigua BID

In celebration of 15 years serving the community, the Canandaigua BID wanted a festival poster that celebrates what is great about Historic Downtown. Who better to capture that than one of Canandaigua’s home grown artists Christopher Wheat. The 2007 poster highlights the beautiful streetscape that makes Main Street so inviting. From the splendor of the hanging baskets to the American flags that line the streets to the turn of the century architecture and the gem of a lake in the background, this year’s poster draws you in to the true Main Street experience.

Born and raised in Canandaigua, NY on the north end of Canandaigua Lake, Christopher's passion and gift of art became evident at a very young age. Through his high school and college years, he began taking on commissions for local businesses and private collectors, and never looked back.

For over 17 years Christopher has been hard at work painting and making his living as an artist. His paintings display a crisp and defined look that brings each image to life. In addition to his collection of Canandaigua and Finger Lakes Paintings - scene's, Christopher also focuses on the New England coast. He has completed works of many popular New England landscapes and seascapes, as well as worked with private collectors to create custom portraits. Christopher states, "sometimes the only way to get the painting you really want is to have an artist paint it for you." On a commissioned basis, he paints such subjects as Home portraits, Cottage portraits, Seascapes, Landscapes and the occasional pet. Christopher's love of the coast and passion for painting marine art has taken him to Nantucket, Newport RI, Martha's Vineyard and up the coast of Maine.
